Transport Target of Request
The transport target specifies where a transport request is imported.
There are three ways to define transport targets. They differ in syntax and function.
Syntax Example Explanation
1. <SYS> C11 Target system
2. <SYS>.<CLI> C11.021 Target system and client
3. /<Group name>/ /EUROPE/ Target group
The second and third options can only be used when extended transport control has been activated.
For transport targets without a specified target client (first option), the client into which the client-specific objects are to be imported is only determined at the time of import by the system administrator.
However, if the target client is already defined in the transport target, the system administrator no longer has to make this decision.
If no transport target is specified, you cannot transport the change requests into other SAP systems. The change request is classified to local change requests. Any changes that are recorded in these requests are not exported when the requests are released, thus no tansport files are generated in the server. However, these requests still record all changes made to objects. In addition, a version is made of Workbench objects when the request is released.
hi andy,
im trying to change the target system name and release it locally, at the moment the target system is blank. But when i try to edit and input the local system name its giving me error as ” is not a consolidation target”
please help mate….
error as…” SID is not a consolidation target”
I cannot access the SAP system now. But as per my understanding, the transport target needs to be configured in TMS – tcode: STMS. Correct me if I was wrong
