Naming SAP E-Commerce / SAP CRM Web Channel
SAP product names always make me confused. I have been working on ECO for ERP and CRM for about one yeaer. But I still confused by it’s offical name in differernt document. Finally, I found an SAP note 817119 to clarify my question. Below is cited from the SAP note.
The current offering, “mySAP CRM E-Commerce”, has been renamed to “SAP CRM Web Channel”.
The new naming for the key capability “mySAP CRM E-Commerce” is “SAP CRM Web Channel”.
The key capability “SAP CRM Web Channel” consists of the following major areas:
E-Commerce (formerly E-Selling)
E-Marketing
E-Service
Web Channel Analytics (formerly E-Analytics)The new naming embodies SAP’s strategic direction for the Web interaction channel, combining all sales, service, and marketing-related processes in a seamless customer experience.
The naming for “SAP E-Commerce for SAP ERP” and “SAP E-Commerce for SAP R/3″ stays unchanged.
Please refer to the business scenario descriptions in SAP Solution Manager to learn more about the scope of functionality available with the respective back-end systems (CRM or ERP).
In order to harmonize the naming of E-Commerce capabilities of mySAP CRM and mySAP ERP, SAP has used the name “SAP E-Commerce” since 2005. These capabilities can be deployed with a SAP CRM, SAP ECC (mySAP ERP), or SAP R/3 back end. The term “SAP Internet Sales (R/3 Edition)” was replaced by “SAP E-Commerce for mySAP ERP”. It is used to describe the SAP E-Commerce application together with a SAP R/3 or an ERP back end. The term “SAP E-Commerce for SAP R/3″ is only used, when it is necessary to point out a difference between the handling of an ERP or R/3 back end.
The use of the names “SAP Internet Sales”, “SAP Internet Sales in mySAP ERP”, “SAP Internet Sales (R/3 Edition)”, and mySAP CRM E-Commerce has been discontinued. You will still find these former terms in certain areas of the documentation as the new naming conventions will only be used when new documents are produced or adapted.
